Still Eating

Oh My... what a lovely evening dinner at Cabo San Lucas' Pueblo Bonita Rose.. outside dining in soft light, gentle breeze. Lovely mild weather in Cabo this July. It is usually HOT HOT HOT. This is the "Small" sized portion of their Wednesday Night Grilled Surf and Turf event. I can't imagine what the BIG sized meal would be. Most of what is on this plate went back to our quarters with us. Uno caja grande por favor! (One large box, please!) We concluded we are lucky people to be enjoying such a grand time.

I'm in Mexico and I'm FULL

Surely I have done something besides eating since arriving last Sunday. But food presentation in the restaurants of Cabo are so very colorful, beautiful, and usually as in this case DELICIOSO!
The one restaurant I MUST visit each year is "Mi Casa"in Cabo San Lucas, a place full of color, culture, and plain fun.
Catch this however.... 2 other couples dined with us at Mi Casa. Both are close friends from Southern California. We all lead busy lives and decided to all come to Cabo at the same time so we could spend some relaxed time together. We are still laughing that this even seemed necessary to make us relax and visit. We have had a wonderful time watching World Cup together. Two of we gals (that includes me) are former Womens League Soccer players. We both bowed out of the game when there were lots of 20 year olds running past us like we were almost standing still. One of the fellows still plays with a mens league. It was great fun. We girls privately admitted we were pulling for Spain against Germany only because we three had traveled together to Spain years ago and the men there are just plain gorgeous.

A skunks warning

This morning.. the day after the evening ... this is funny... but NOT last night. Some remember Ray and I have just installed a larger than life mountain lion sculpture just outside our window. You might also recall us reporting that dogs in the canyon are barking at it like crazy. NOW.... We find a canyon skunk is warning our inanimate lion in the way they warn any possible threat. The special aroma was so strong last night that closing doors and covering our noses was not enough to protect us from his special aroma. Oh, the joys of living in the wild.

Off to the airport and the fresh seaside air in Mexico! :-)

Adios Amigas y Amigos

CABO SAN LUCAS... Here I come! THIS is why my quilting is suffering... tho...I am having a great time. I've been traveling the last couple months. Early tomorrow, I am headed for 2 weeks at one of my favorite places in the world... Cabo San Lucas... specifically Playa Grande Resort. For years I have spent 3 to 4 weeks each year in Cabo. Now I am splitting equivalent time between Cabo and Sedona(a new love). I have an extra timeshare in Cabo now if anyone is interested in purchasing cheap.. I now have more timeshares than time to use them.
This trip.... One week with friends.. then a second week with Daughter and grandkids. Call me Happy Girl!!!!
I'm taking handwork with me... my camera, a few clothes, and my laptop.....oh...and lots of 'stuff' for my grandkids ( it's a grammies job). I'll try to post if I can. I hope you have some great travel plans too.
I can hardly wait to enjoy one of my favorite cocktails " A Ticket to Fly" served at Finisterra resort ( translates as Land's End),

and FRESH Ceviche y Tapas (Chips) ... Num!
"
It's not like I LIKE these or anything."
They are sooooooo good, I even photographed them last year! Perhaps the taste is enhanced by being on vacation!

Ink Color Wheel

I've never known why Tsukineko does not display their ink line in color wheel orientation as opposed to numeric lists, but these are their inks in maximum saturation colors as I have generally placed them in color wheel fashion. Bear in mind, they had 36 inks til a couple years back then added 9 so I added the 9 to the wheel I had already begun.
The middle of the wheel are colors I consider neutral brown-like or near black-like colors. Not shown is black, gray, white and metallics of which there are several.
The outer colors from the main clean colored circle are more tints/shades of the main more jewel tone clean colors. Maybe this will be helpful to some of you trying to make color selections. Double click on photo for a close up view with ink color numbers. Update: You are welcome to print this out if it helps. Happy Inking! Patt ( c ) copy write photo 7/2010

Breathtaking Beauty

Not only is the wilderness of Alaska great... look at this quaint and REAL tribal fishing village in Hoonah, Alaska on a tribal owned island. This is begging for a painter to interpret it.
This large net (no longer used regularly) is designed for scooping up freshly caught salmon. This net is enormous as king salmon are likewise enormous.

I took a wildlife cooking class while on this island. It was on filleting and outdoor grill cooking fresh salmon and halibut. I think I might have learned something. YEAH!
