Updating My Business Card

Been meaning to do this for some time.... It's cost me to add this on the back side of my card but the  blog links I've added are maybe my best tips for art quilters starting with  1) how to BLOCK a quilt, 2) mark and square up a blocked art quilt, and last 3) face an art quilt.  I just ordered these so I should have these In Houston, Empty Spools, Quilting in The Desert Camp for sure!  Happy Quilting All!

The 3rd degree... the good way!

Hubby Ray photo'd  here with one of his happy classmates Madison.  Happy Fathers Day to all you papas.  For my man... he gets both the Happy Dads Day wish and also  yesterday got his 3rd College Degree.... This one in his lifelong love.. History  ( No 1 was  Kinesiology (?sp) , No 2 Art)
He was definitely the oldest student graduating yesterday... and maybe older than the  Dean.  EVERYONE knows Ray,  Madison said.     Finally... he's  up on the  Jumbotron screen!! Happy Dad's Day sweetheart!

Okay... It's hot!

Summer is always busy... I've been traveling... now finally home to high heat and brown lawns due to the California drought.   I have a perverted fondness for corny jokes so here's one that fits the day. My apologies to those sons appreciation of this highly (maybe lowly) evolved art form. ;-D

The Distant Valley Below

Far below the mountain ledge where my mountain lions searches the valley below... is this distant, unclear image of open landscape.  This includes some filler quilting and a resemblance of free motion embroidery. It was fun to do.

Judy Greenwood .. GoodBye My friend!

One of my great life joys was to know this woman. Judy's life has ended but she will be memorialized today, June 6, 2015. Judy posed here with her winning "Lucy" quilt  which ribboned both in  her home country Canada and at Houston International. "Lucy" was a good doggy friend to Judy's art career and her spirit. Judy was wacky, talented, warm, giving, and a heck of alot of fun.  I never laughed more than when with Judy.
God Bless You Judy and Lawrence!

Bringing up The Backside.

Lots of thread changes to make this work. High value contrast makes things exciting to me.
I think I might want to add a very few lighter values in the 'twirl of this guys tail.  Click on a photo for enlarged views.

Paws and Chest

I will leave the rest of the face 'til much later but as you can see I'm starting to fill areas of sunlit fur
I wasn't certain if comparable style of quilting would work in white fur areas but it seems to work fine.
Similar work on the paws  and things are starting to take shape.  Click on any photo for enlarged views.
