Summer is usually about family stuff and 'am working on applying the Big Q pattern using sports fabrics (for my athletic 7 year old grandson). This 4 block set will be duplicated throughout his bedspread top. Think it will look good. Hope he likes. !!

One Fine Abstract by Angie
One of the many drawings I bring to my one day painting with inks class can be tackled with as little as 3 inks allowing students just wanting to 'give it a try' a chance to do so without needing a bunch of supplies. Angie (with the Modesto guild in April)... went far the other direction using lots of inks applying her plan for a colorful/playful abstract. I so enjoyed watching her painting progress in class, and now she was kind enough to let me share her finished work. SO FUN!!!
LOVE IT!!!! Thanks Angie!

Call It Grand for a Reason
Doing a good Grammie thing this week... introducing my 16 yr old grandaughter Kaley to road trip traveling and enjoying nature. Her reaction to the grandeur of the Grand Canyon is seen below ...It's sure big!
Such a humbling masterpiece in nature:

Navajo Nations Antelope Slot Canyon
On day 2 of our road trip...One of the most photographed places in the U.S. A at the north border of Arizona. Just outside the city of Page are the upper and Lower Slot Canyons. Narrow walkways through these canyons provide light and dark contrasts of exquisite earth. This formation is commonly called the dragons eye... This was taken with my big Canon SLR but frankly there were spectacular no flash photos being taken from smart phones. Incredible improvements in cameras.
We had plenty of time to move through the upper canyon and photograph, but little time to return to our point of origin. The canyon was closing for a flash flood warning. We experienced no problem but one could see the enormous cloud moving through the area. That is one black cloud.

"Out Of Africa"
I have been on a dead run... Colorado Granddaughter Kaley arrived last month for summer in California. So far... I've taught two granddaughters how to sew jammie pants... bear in mind... I don't make clothing.... but it's done, they wear them, and ofcourse... we have fabric for a second set.
This week, we made a whirlwind trip to Arizona. Kaley was excited to visit this great place near Sedona(OUT Of Africa Wildlife Adventures) These big cats were soooo exciting. These are a few of my pics.
This white tiger was breathtakingly beautiful.
A lioness just finishing a snack...
I had a mighty long lens for this guy.

Great eyelashes, eh?
Perhaps the most exciting event at Out of Africa is the afternoon tiger splash. 5 adult tigers literally playing in and around a pool like very large kittens, Usually, trainers who have been with and are loved by these animals for a long time are in the pen with the animals... but not on this day as tigers are spooked by distant thunder, I show this pic so you can see how BIG they are. The 6ft trainer is dwarfed by this big cat.
