Six Foot Mini Version of Route 66 Map

Often when I'm doing a unfamiliar or complicated painting project, I will do a mini version to work out some of the kinks. It just seems smarter to problem solve on a trial effort. So since the real version will measure 60 feet long , a 1/10 size ( 6 foot) is the task at hand. I begin with a pencil drawing of the route across all eight states. Then finished in black permanent marker.
Heat set painted fabric placed atop the drawing and here we go using mostly textile markers, and bottled pigment inks.
I love this smaller journey where I can get a feel of what will make the larger project work.
Now to grid this 10 times bigger. EEK!
